The AKC Coonhounds Department has recognized that these states offer some of the finest coonhunting in the country and these states are home to some hard working, passionate houndsmen. Houndsmen that are farmers or other working class folks that can't always get away for a long road trip to attend some of the other major events across the country. Here in the Upper Midwestern states we are truly in America's Heartland and AKC is offering us an opportunity to hold a major event that everyone in the Upper Midwest and beyond should want to attend.

The Heartland Classic is about more than another big nite hunt. Its about a gathering for all hound enthusiasts in the Upper Midwest. A place to bring your families along while you pursue the big winnings and share in fellowship with other hunters from the Upper Midwest.
The Heartland Classic is about taking pride in your home state or region to show the nation that we too can host one of the finest coonhunting events in the country.
